Only child of a German mother and a Japanese expat father, working as a CEO for a German division of his brother’s data-selling business, Nera is not so much the result of a clash of cultures as a merge. Her mother is a Japanese translator and, sometimes, seems more at home in the Japanese way of life than the German one, while her father has assimilated one hundred percent with German customs and culture. Nera usually jokes that her mother is now more Japanese than her father and her father more German than her mother, while she herself is a bit of both, though probably more German than Japanese, at the end of the day. Maybe that’s why she connects most easily with her father, or it’s because he understands better than her mother her attraction to women. It doesn’t truly matter, Nera has few complaints. She takes care of herself, sometimes she helps out her father, too, when he needs someone to put on a show for a conference or business meeting. Their bonds aren’t strong as such, but they’re stubbornly loyal.
Nera is a trained musical artist with the entertainment giant, AG Revue whose main venue is the old Friedrichstadt-Palast. AG is an abbreviation for “All-Girls”, meaning that every role on stage is performed by women, including men’s parts and dancing routines. The Revue has its own school where girls are divided into either “TR” or “DR”, trouser role or dress role, indicating which gender they’ll generally portray in their career. Despite her height, she isn’t particularly tall, though neither particularly short, Nera was made a trouser role and has made a starlit career for herself as a male impersonator, especially known for her acting and singing, less so for her dancing, thus most often starring in the musical and play-focused acts, though she has on occasion been invited to sing in some of the AG's elaborate dance shows, too.
Although she tells herself she is always looking for that special someone, Nera is currently (mostly) single and too busy with work, really, to be very serious about a relationship. She lives alone in her inner Berlin penthouse apartment with her Persian cat, Mimi, and has more room than she’d what to do with in a whole lifetime. She's in an on-again/off-again relationship with fellow trouser role actress, Annika Andersson, the two of them constantly butting heads over their difference in definition of "devoted".
